The College at Brockport's men's lacrosse team fell to nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College 12-6 Tuesday afternoon on Fisher's turf field at Growney Stadium in Pittsford, NY.
Fisher (5-0), ranked No. 17 in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's (USILA) latest Division III rankings, scored two goals in the first three minutes and 24 seconds into the game. The Cardinals tacked on four goals over a 2:49 span of the period to take a 6-0 lead.
Brockport (0-4) eventually fell behind 11-0 through two and a half periods before senior
Matt Andon-McLane got the Golden Eagles (0-4) on the board with 7:17 remaining in the third.
Seniors
Justin Tierney (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) and
Mike Tammaro (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) added goals 1:45 apart as Brockport scored the final three goals of the period, and trailed 11-3 heading into the fourth. It was Tierney's first goal of the season, and Tammaro's second goal.
Following a man-up goal for Fisher, freshman
Brendon Rothfuss (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) scored his second goal of the season. Sophomore
Ryan Pratt (Brockport, NY/Brockport) and junior
Joe Matison (Penfield, NY/Webster Schroeder) tacked on goals 33 seconds apart late in the game to finish off the scoring.
The Golden Eagles return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon, when Brockport travels to New Jersey to face Kean University.
