Senior Matt Andon-McLane (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham), Freshman Brendon Rothfuss (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and senior Andy Hilton (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) scored three goals each to lead The College at Brockport Men's Lacrosse team to its second straight victory with a 16-9 win over Medaille College in a non-conference game played at Spencerport High School Tuesday night.
Brockport (2-4) wasted little time taking the lead as Hilton scored seven seconds into the contest taking a quick pass from Andon-McLane to open the game. The score bounced back-and-forth for the remainder of the first quarter with Kevin Conlon (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) and Rothfuss each scoring goals and the score was tied at 3-3 after the first 15 minutes of action.
The second quarter was dominated by the Brockport offense as the Golden Eagles outscored the Mavericks (1-4) 6-2 in the quarter to take a 9-5 lead into the halftime intermission. Rothfuss scored twice in the second quarter while Andon-McLane and Hilton each added one goal and Mike Tammaro (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) and Nate Thomas (Cortland, NY/Cortland) each added a goal as well during the scoring outburst.
Medaille score three of the first four goals of the second half to cut the Brockport lead to 10-8 by Andon-McLane scored twice in the final five minutes of the third quarter to regain control for Brockport and give the Golden Eagles a 12-8 advantage. Conlon added his second goal of the game early in the fourth quarter to extend the lead before Jesse Elliott (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) Hilton and Thomas scored in a span of 1:44 as Brockport took a 16-8 lead.
Medaille added a late man-down goal for the final score.
Andon-McLane finished with three goals and three assists, Rothfuss had three goals and one assist, Hilton chipped in three goals, Thomas was credited with two goals and two assists and Tammaro scored once and handed out six assists. Conlon scored twice with Elliott and
Steve Dalton (Amherst, NY/Amherst) each scoring once. Senior
Kyle Crosley (Clinton, NY/Homer) made 12 saves in the Brockport net.
