Lacrosse Falls in Second Overtime

Senior Matt Andon-McLane (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) scored with 9:03 to play in the fourth quarter to give The College at Brockport Men's Lacrosse team a 7-6 lead but Clarkson University scored late in the fourth quarter to tie the game and scored again with 49 seconds elapsed in the second overtime period to post an 8-7 victory Wednesday in Potsdam.

Brockport (0-2) scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the contest to take a 2-1 lead as Andy Hilton (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) and Brendon Rothfuss (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) each scored for the Golden Eagles.

Clarkson (2-0) answered with a four goal spurt to take a 5-2 lead with four minutes remaining in the first half. Hilton and Andon-McLane each scored to narrow the gap before the end of the first half and Clarkson took a 5-4 lead into the halftime intermission.

In the third quarter, Nate Thomas (Cortland, NY/Cortland) scored 1:24 into the period to knot the score at 5-5 but with just one second remaining in the quarter, Clarkson regained the one-goal lead.

Brockport freshman Bryon Palmer (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) scored early in the fourth quarter to tie the score again at 6-6 and Andon-McLane gave the Golden Eagles the 7-6 lead which held up until late in the final quarter.

Clarkson scored with 4:43 left to play in regulation sending the game into overtime. Neither team scored in the first four-minute overtime period but with just 49 gone in the second four-minute session, the Knights scored to escape with the victory.

On the day, Hilton and Andon-McLane each scored twice for Brockport while Thomas, Rothfuss and Palmer each scored once. Mike McSweeney (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) had one assist for Brockport.
