Senior Stephanie Geer (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) earned her 13th win of the season leading The College at Brockport Softball team to a 2-0 victory in game one of a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) doubleheader Friday afternoon on the road against New Paltz. The Golden Eagles surrendered an early 3-0 lead in game two as New Paltz came back to post a 4-3 win in eight innings.

In game one, Brockport (20-11 overall,  6-7 SUNYAC) scored a run in the top of the first inning. Sophomore Courtney Claflin (Lacona, NY/Sandy Creek) and junior Amy Nowak (Warsaw, NY/Warsaw) each had singles and Claflin scored when freshman Emily Dumas (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) reached on a fielding error.

In the top of the fourth, the Golden Eagles pushed their lead to 2-0. Freshman Sarah Rosenbarker (Endicott, NY/Maine-Endwell) hit a one-out single and advanced to second on a single from junior Liz Hochman (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon). Hochman and Rosenbarker advanced to second and third, respectively, on a ground out, and then junior Jessica Stahl (Brockport, NY/Aquinas) hit an RBI single that plated Rosenbarker. Hochman was thrown out at home trying to score Brockport's third run.

Geer retired the Hawks (14-18, 5-11) in order in the first, sixth and seventh innings, and got some help from her defense to escape a pair of jams. Twice New Paltz saw its threat to score end on a failed stolen base attempt; in the third the Hawks had the tying run on second with two outs, but the runner was thrown out trying to steal third base. Then in the fifth, New Paltz had a runner thrown out trying to steal second base.

With the win, Geer earned the 73rd complete game of her Brockport career, and picked up her 25th career shutout.

Brockport rapped out 10 base hits, led by Stahl, who was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Nowak and Hochman, who each went 2-for-3. Seven different players had hits in Game 1 for Brockport.

In game two, Brockport opened up a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first inning and held a 3-0 lead with another run in the third inning. New Paltz responded with two runs in the bottom of the third to trim the lead and then tied the score at 3-3 with a run in the fourth. The Hawks won the game with a two-out rally aided by a Brockport error in the eighth inning.

Nowak and Hochman had two hits each for Brockport with both of Nowak's hits being doubles.Nowak had one run batted in and Danielle Sage (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) knocked in two runs.
