GAME ONE BOXSCORE            GAME TWO BOXSCORE

The College at Brockport's softball team dropped both games of its Sunday afternoon doubleheader at Fredonia, falling 3-2 in Game One and 10-1 in five innings in Game Two to its State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rivals.

Senior Stephanie Geer (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) allowed only one earned run and struck out seven batters over six and 2/3 innings pitched in Game One, but Fredonia pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh to snap a 2-all tie and win 3-2 at Fredonia's Blue Devil Field.

Fredonia (16-2 overall, 4-0 SUNYAC) scored four runs in the bottom of the first and tacked on six more in the third to take a 10-0 lead. Brockport (10-4, 0-2) scored once in the top of the fourth, but fell 10-1 in Game Two.

Geer surrendered eight hits and three runs during her outing, and only issued one walk. Brockport jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a two-run single from sophomore Danielle Sage (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama). Sophomore Courtney Claflin (Lacona, NY/Sandy Creek) drew a one-out walk before stealing second base. She advanced to third on a passed ball, and freshman Sarah Rosenbarker (Endicott, NY/Maine-Endwell) drew a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball.

Sage then hit a two-run single to stake the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 lead.

Fredonia got one run back in the bottom of the first, scoring off an error, and tied the game on an RBI single in the third inning. The game remained tied until the Blue Devils broke through in the bottom of the seventh. Fredonia's Brittany Lis delivered an opposite-field single with two outs to plate the winning run.

It was Geer's first loss following six straight wins to open the season.

Fredonia starting pitcher Alyssa Brognano was perfect through three innings and pitched a two-hitter in Game Two. She yielded just a fourth-inning RBI groundout to freshman Susanna Johnson (Edmeston, NY/Edmeston).

Claflin and sophomore Jenna Yates (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) delivered consecutive singles to lead off the fourth for Brockport. Claflin and Yates each advanced a base on an error, giving the Golden Eagles runners at second and third with two outs, but Brognano induced a fly out to end the Brockport threat.

The Golden Eagles return to action at 3 p.m. Monday afternoon with a home doubleheader against St. John Fisher College.
