Freshman Emily Dumas (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) collected three hits and senior Stephanie Geer (Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic) had another solid pitching performance to lead The College at Brockport Softball team to a doubleheader split against St. John Fisher College Thursday afternoon in Pittsford.

Brockport won the opener, 2-1 behind a strong pitching performance from Geer who struck out seven Cardinals (15-5). Dumas led the Brockport (11-5) offense with a pair of hits in the first game and had one of the two Brockport hits in a 5-0 loss in the nightcap.

In the opener, St. John Fisher broke the scoreless tie with a run in the third inning with three hits in the inning but had a runner thrown out at the plate to end the inning. Brockport tied the score in the bottom of the inning as Jenna Yates (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) doubled with one out and score two batters later on a single by Liz Hochman (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon).

The Golden Eagles nearly broke the game open in the fourth inning as Dumas opening the inning with a single and Caitlyn Rena (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) later singled and the runners advanced to second and third on an errant throw but with two outs, the Cardinals ended the threat with a ground out to complete the inning.

Brockport scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Pinch-hitter Danielle Sage (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) singled to start the inning. After a fielders' choice play and an infield groundout, Yates walked and Courtney Claflin (Lacona, NY/Sandy Creek) singled to right field plating Rena with the winning run.

In the second game, the Brockport hitters were limited to just three hits with Dumas, Claflin and freshman Melissa Martin (Deposit, NY/Deposit) each collecting one hit. St. John Fisher took a 2-0 lead with single runs in the second and third innings but took a 5-0 lead with three runs in the sixth.
