The College at Brockport women's tennis team was defeated by Geneseo 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Brockport Tennis Courts in the second conference match for the Golden Eagles. The loss drops Brockport to 2-3 overall, and 1-1 in SUNYAC play. The Blue Knights improve to 3-0 overall, and 2-0 in the conference.
Doubles action was packed with high-intensity points, as Brockport tried to end Geneseo's unbeaten streak. However, Geneseo was too strong, taking all three doubles matches.
The Blue Knights carried the momentum into singles, completing the sweep. The closest match in singles action came at the No. 4 flight, as junior
Kaitlyn Broderick (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) took two games from her opponent.
“That was a tough opponent,” head coach
Ben Klempka said. “All things considered, I think everyone played pretty well. Each girl fought to the very end.”
The Golden Eagles are back in action Friday, as they play their third straight conference match at home against Oneonta at 4 pm.
