Junior Katelyn Richenberg (Stafford, NY/Batavia) won both of her matches Friday, but The College at Brockport women's tennis team fell to Oneonta 5-4 at Brockport tennis courts.

With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 2-3 on the year. The Red Dragons move to 5-1 this season.

In doubles action, the duo of Richenberg and sophomore Ellen Meyers (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) was dominant at the No. 3 flight, winning 8-0. Seniors Jen Lazarony (Corfu, NY/Pembroke) and Kaitlyn Broderick (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) teamed up for a solid effort at second doubles, but ultimately fell short, losing 8-6.

Trailing 2-1 going into singles, the Golden Eagles split the six singles matches. Broderick defeated Oneonta's Emily Maggiore at No. 4 singles in two tough sets, 6-4, 7-5. Richenberg took care of business at fifth singles, winning 6-2, 6-2.

Freshman Lauren Bohman (Sayville, NY/Sayville) remained undefeated in singles action, winning 7-5, 6-4.

“Katelyn played her best tennis of the season today,” head coach Ben Klempka said. “She and Ellen were unbelievable in doubles against a good team.”

The Golden Eagles host New Paltz at noon Saturday.
