Sophomore
Ellen Meyers (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) won in both singles and doubles action on Saturday at Brockport tennis courts, but The College at Brockport women's tennis team fell 7-2 to New Paltz.
With the loss, the Golden Eagles drop to 2-5 on the year. The Hawks improve to 5-1 this season.
Meyers teamed up with junior
Katelyn Richenberg (Stafford, NY/Batavia) to earn the win at No. 3 doubles by the score 8-5. The duo is now 4-1 in 2011.
The Hawks won the other two doubles matches, taking a 2-0 lead into singles play. New Paltz won five of six singles matches to put the match away. Earning the lone win for Brockport was Meyers, who defeated Devin Tracy 6-1, 2-6, 10-3.
“Our doubles teams all played really well today,” head coach
Ben Klempka said. “We knew we were up against one of the best in the conference and we rose to the challenge. Ellen gutting out a win in singles was big for her confidence moving forward.”
Brockport hits the road on Tuesday, as they travel to face Keuka College at 4 pm.
