Box Score
Junior Kevin Nichols (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) and freshman Peter DiLorenzo (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) each scored goals for The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team to salvage a 2-2 tie with Potsdam Friday afternoon in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in Potsdam.

The tie coupled with a Plattsburgh loss to Geneseo puts the Golden Eagles alone in first place of the SUNYAC regular season standings with just a single game remaining on the schedule. Plattsburgh and Brockport face off Saturday in the final game of the regular season and a win or tie by Brockport would give the Golden Eagles the SUNYAC regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

The tie also guaranteed the Golden Eagles (8-6-1 Overall, 6-1-1 SUNYAC) one of the two top seeds in the tournament giving the team a first round bye.

Against the Bears (3-8-4, 1-3-4), Brockport dominated statistically in the boxscore with nearly twice as many shots and twice the number of shots on goal but it was Potsdam that scored first in the 14th minutes to take an early lead.

DiLorenzo entered the game with 15 minutes remaining in the first half and scored with just 35 seconds left before halftime to tie the score at 1-1. Senior Marc Orlando (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) set up the play and the teams went into the intermission tied.

In the second half, Potsdam regained the lead with 20 minutes left in the half with a goal off a direct kick and held that 2-1 lead until the final minutes of regulation play. With 2:22 on the clock, Nichols scored with an assist from Chris O'Gorman (Wading River, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) for the 2-2 tie forcing the overtime periods.

Neither team scored in the extra periods and the game ended in a 2-2 tie. Brockport scored a 3-1 victory in the five-shot penalty kick session giving the Golden Eagles a conference tie-breaker if needed to determine the playoff position for teams.

In the game, Brockport held a 28-18 advantage in shots and a 16-8 lead in shots on goal. Freshman Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) made six saves as he improved to 7-3-1 on the season.
