The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team lost a tough 2-1 double-overtime match against Plattsburgh on Saturday, dropping the team's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) record to 6-2-1 on the year. With the loss, the Golden Eagles claimed the No. 3 seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament. Dan Turchan (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) scored the lone goal for Brockport.

The Golden Eagles entered the day needing a win to clinch the regular season championship or a tie to earn a first-round bye in the SUNYAC Tournament. Brockport will now take on the No. 6 seed New Paltz in the first round. The Hawks defeated Fredonia on Saturday to advance to the postseason. Brockport defeated New Paltz 5-2 on Sept. 29.

Brockport will host the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 27 at A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field with a time of 1:00 pm. The winner will advance to take on the No. 2 seed on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 1:00 pm.

Turchan put the Golden Eagles ahead early with his first goal of the season coming at the 6:34 mark. Freshman Nick Tata (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute), who started the game on the bench, entered the game and played a corner kick into the Plattsburgh box. The ball found Turchan's head who in turn played it off the cross bar and into the net for the early 1-0 lead.

Plattsburgh evened the game at one at the 19:36 mark. The game remained even throughout the rest of regulation. The Golden Eagles had a corner kick in the final minutes of play but failed to bury the game-winner.

Each team had one shot in the first overtime period but the game moved on to the second overtime session. Tata played another corner kick in the 104th minute with no luck for Brockport. Plattsburgh came back down the field and scored after a scramble in the Brockport box.

Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) played all 107:56 of the game, making one save. Plattsburgh outshot the Golden Eagles 14-10, but the two teams combined for just six total shots on goal.

With the win, Plattsburgh earned the top overall seed in the SUNYAC Tournament after owning the tiebreaker with Oneonta. Both teams are 7-2 in the conference. Cortland earned the fourth seed with a 5-3-1 conference record.
