The College at Brockport Women's Basketball team will participate in the third annual Play4Kay game on Friday, Feb. 17 at 6:00 pm against the Plattsburgh Cardinals. The Golden Eagles will don pink “Play 4 Kay” warm-up tops prior to the game in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gym.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink as well. Before and during the contest, tables will be place outside the gymnasium for donations, raffles, t-shirts, and carnations. There will also be a table for breast cancer awareness run by the Brockport health department.
All proceeds will go towards the Kay Yow Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Cancer Fund. The WBCA works with college teams from across the country to organize Pink Zone events on their campuses to raise money in honor and memory of the former North Carolina State head women's basketball coach Kay Yow, who passed away in January of 2009 after a long battle with cancer.
The Brockport Men's Basketball team will also participate in the event by wearing pink warm-up tops prior to their game against Plattsburgh Friday night with tip-off set for 8:00 pm.
Admission for the event is free of charge to all faculty and staff and students with Brockport ID. Tickets for seniors and non-Brockport students are $3.00 while general admission is $5.00.
