The College at Brockport Women's Softball team dropped two non-league games to St. John Fisher on Monday by scores of 8-2 in game one and 9-0 in game two. St. John Fisher entered the game ranked no. 21 in the NCAA Division III rankings. Sophomore Emily Dumas (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) hit a home run in her third straight game in game one to lead the Brockport offense.

Dumas, who hit three homeruns in two games against Oswego on Saturday, gave Brockport an early lead in game one with a first inning shot to right-center. Fisher responded with a run in the bottom of the second and the game remained tied until the fifth when the Cardinals used a homerun in the frame to build a 4-1 lead.

Liz Hochman (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) got her second hit of the game to start the Brockport sixth.  Emily Wagner (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa) pinch ran for Hochman and later scored on a Julie Arnold (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia) groundout to cut the deficit to two. However, St. John Fisher tacked on four more runs in the fourth inning and walked away with the victory.

Caitlyn Rana (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) went 2-4 in game one to extend her streak to 17 straight games reaching base. Rana had reached base in every game this season, but her streak was snapped in game two against Fisher. The junior entered the day leading Brockport with a .460 batting average. Her 25 hits and 12 runs scored lead the team. Dumas, Hochman, and Courtney Claflin (Lacona, NY/Sandy Creek) also had two-hit games as Brockport outhit the Cardinals 10-8.

Jean Farrell went five and one-third innings in the circle to get the loss. The senior finished the game with seven earned runs on seven hits and struck out four.

In game two, St. John Fisher scored a run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The one run proved to be all the scoring the Cardinals needed as the Golden Eagles bats' fell silent in the nightcap. Amy Nowak (Warsaw, NY/Warsaw) was the lone Golden Eagle to collect a hit in game two.

Brockport's best offensive chance came in the top of the first inning. With two outs, Dumas walked to give the Golden Eagles their first baserunner. Nowak's lone hit came as a single to centerfield to advance Dumas to second. Hochman was then hit by a pitch to load the bases, but Brockport could not capitalize.

Brockport put two runners in scoring position in the top of the fifth inning. Marissa Levia (Olean, NY/Olean) pinch-hit for Rana and reached on an error by the third baseman. Kayla Ladd (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) then reached second base on a throwing error by the second baseman to put Levia on third. With just one out, Brockport yet again failed to take advantage of scoring opportunities and stranded the two runners.

Erin Fleming (Friendship, NY/Bolivar-Richburg) was tagged with the loss in game two. The sophomore went five and one-third innings allowing eight hits and five earned runs.
