SUNYAC Bracket SUNYAC Championship Quick Facts
Thanks to a dramatic last second goal by junior
Kaila Maguire (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam), The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team will head to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament this weekend, hosted by Cortland. The Golden Eagles are set to take on the top-seeded and No. 2 nationally ranked Red Dragons at 12:30 on Friday, May 4.
Maguire's goal with two seconds left on the clock against Oneonta ousted the Red Dragons and helped clinch the fourth seed in the tournament for Brockport. The other semifinal matchup will see the No. 2 seed Fredonia Blue Devils take on the No. 3 seed Buffalo State Bengals. The top three seeds are the only teams to defeat Brockport in SUNYAC play this year.
On April 3, the Golden Eagles dropped a road game at Cortland by the score of 17-11. The 11 goals scored against Cortland are tied for the second most this season. Brockport dropped both games to Fredonia and Buffalo State by one goal each, losing to the Blue Devils 12-11 and the Bengals 14-13.
Brockport reached the SUNYAC Championship game last season, their fourth in the previous five years. The Golden Eagles dropped Buffalo State in the first round before falling to Cortland in the championship. The Red Dragons have won 14 of the 15 SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Championships. The Golden Eagles received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament last season as well.
