Box Score
Kevin Dorn (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hallow Hills East) carried The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team for the second straight day as the Golden Eagles defeated Fredonia 2-1 in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest. The Golden Eagles improve their record to 3-5 overall and 2-0 in the SUNYAC.
Dorn helped the Golden Eagles drop Buffalo State Friday, scoring the game's only goal. On Saturday, Dorn came back to score both Brockport goals against the Blue Devils. Brockport has now won two consecutive games after losing five straight nonconference games.
Dorn found himself in the right spot at the right time in the 32nd minute for Brockport's first goal.
Ryan Phillips (Hamlin, NY/Brockport) fired a low shot on net from 25 yards out, but Dorn positioned himself inside the box and deflected the ball past the Fredonia keeper and into the back of the net for his second goal of the season.
Brockport held the 1-0 lead deep into the second half as light rain turned to heavy showers. Dorn struck again in the 73rd minute, this time the sophomore was on the receiving end of a long through pass played into the box. Dorn fired a shot from the left side of the net and through the hands of Mike Schreiner to put Brockport up 2-0.
A late penalty kick from Fredonia brought the Blue Devils to within one with ten minutes to play, but the Golden Eagles defense shut down their opponents and came out with the victory. Brockport has now won its first two conference games in each of the last three seasons.
Freshman
Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) has continued to provide solid play in net for the Golden Eagles.
Making his fourth consecutive start, Sullivan made six saves on the day, including four in the second half. The freshman has allowed just four goals in his four starts and has a .800 save percentage over that span. Fredonia outshot Brockport 19-13 on the day.
The Golden Eagles return home for two more conference matchups next weekend. Brockport will host Oneonta on Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm and New Paltz on Saturday at 1:00 pm. Both games will be played at A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field.
