Four first half goals propelled The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team to a 5-2 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory over New Paltz on Saturday afternoon.
Kevin Dorn (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hallow Hills East) led the Golden Eagles with two goals on the day, giving him five in his last four games.

Ryan Phillips (Hamlin, NY/Brockport) scored Brockport's first goal just 4:39 into the game to give Brockport the early lead. The Golden Eagles found the back of the net three more times over the next 30 minutes before surrendering two late first half goals. Dorn provided the only scoring in the second half with his second goal in the 60th minute on an assist from
Nick Tata (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute). The Golden Eagles upped their SUNYAC record to 3-1-0 on the year while the Hawks fall to 1-3-0 in the conference.
Phillips knocked home his first goal of the season for the early lead after a scramble in the box. Phillips buried the close range shot off of a rebound. Dorn netted his team-leading fourth goal of the season less than eight minutes later.
Dan Turchan (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) played a through-ball to Dorn who then beat the New Paltz keeper one-on-one
Tata scored his first goal since the first game of the season in the 31st minute. The freshman beat the Hawks goalie with a low shot to the right side.
Paul Altobelli (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) built the lead to four at the 35:29 mark after beating a defender near the Brockport bench and streaking towards the goal for his second goal of the year.
The early lead stood even after New Paltz scored two goals within 47 seconds of one another just before intermission. The Golden Eagles held the 4-2 lead until Dorn recorded his second multi-goal game of the season. Tata played a perfect through ball to the sophomore who then beat two defenders for his fifth goal of the year.
The five goals for Brockport are the most since the 2010 season when the Golden Eagles defeated Oswego 5-0 on Oct. 15. The four first half goals are the most in one half since Brockport scored four second half goals in a 7-0 win against Cazenovia.
Brockport had one of its better offensive performances of the year against the Hawks. The Golden Eagles put up season-highs with 21 shots and 13 on goal to go along with the most goals on the year.
Freshman
Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) and sophomore
Max Drexler (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) each played 45 minutes in net to combine for a season-high eight saves for the Golden Eagles. Drexler made five second half saves while Sullivan made three in the first.
Brockport will take a break from its conference schedule to travel to Daemen College on Oct. 2. The Golden Eagles return to SUNYAC play on Oct. 6 to take on Geneseo for a home contest.
