Matthew Lashway (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) all recorded victories by pin leading The College at Brockport Wrestling team to a convincing 41-5 victory over Oswego Wednesday night at Brockport in the final home dual of the season for the Golden Eagles.
Ellis opened the match for Brockport (4-1) with a fall with just 11 seconds remaining in the first period after registering six takedowns against his opponent. Oswego (3-7) rebounded with a 4-1 decision at 133 pounds before the Golden Eagles rattled off two straight pins. Dyer pinned his opponent in just 52 seconds in the 141-pound bout and Golding recorded a fall at 1:41 of the first period in the 149-pound match.
Sophomore
Josh Halladay (Chenango Forks, NY/Johnson City) won a 10-2 major decision for Brockport at 157 pounds. During the 157-pound bout Oswego was assessed a misconduct penalty and a team point was deducted from its score.
The Lakers posted a 6-0 decision in the 165-pound bout but Brockport finished strong as Joy pinned his opponent at 1:34 in the 174-pound bout, sophomore
Richie Childs (Hamlin, NY/Brockport) won an 11-2 major decision at 184 pounds and Lashway scored a pin at the 1:27 mark of the opening period to give the Golden Eagles a commanding lead.
The closest bout of the night was in the 285-pound weight class. Brockport junior
John Wilkinson (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) battled Oswego's Jake DeBuyser to a 1-1 tie in regulation and each wrestler scored an additional point in the overtime periods. In the fourth overtime session, Wilkinson recorded a takedown for two points and the sudden victory win with a 4-2 score.
