Senior Jesse Elliott (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) scored five times and added four assists to lead The College at Brockport Men's Lacrosse team to a season-high 19 goals in a 19-12 victory over Medaille College Wednesday night at RIT.
Brockport (2-4) jumped out to an early lead with a 7-2 advantage after the first quarter and the Golden Eagles held a 9-7 lead at halftime. Brockport took a commanding lead with five unanswered goals in the third quarter and each team scored five times in the final 15 minutes.
Riley Austin (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) added three goals and Tim Cook (Fairport, NY/Fairport) chipped in a goal and an assist for the Golden Eagles.
Brockport scored the first four goals of the game with Elliott opening the scoring 1:13 into the contest and Sean McCaffrey (Manlius, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) scored twice with both goals assisted by Elliott.
The teams traded two goals each before McCaffrey scored for the third time in the quarter with less than a minute left in the opening quarter for the 7-2 Brockport lead.
Brockport scored two of the first three goals in the second quarter before Medaille (1-2) battled back with four straight goals over a six minute span to end the half.
McCaffrey and Elliott scored goals in a span of 12 seconds just five minutes into the second half as the Golden Eagles rattled in five goals in the quarter outscoring the Mavericks 5-0 in the 15-minute period.
Medaille scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to trim the lead to 14-9 but Brockport answered with four straight coming off the sticks of Austin, John Countryman (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), Keenan Sullivan (Grand Rapids, MI/Forest Hills Eastern) and another from Austin as Brockport took control of the game.
Medaille scored three of the last four goals as Elliott added his fifth of the game with 4:16 left to play.
