Box Score
Senior Jesse Elliott (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) scored six goals and handed out two behind-the-back assists for an eight-point day propelling The College at Brockport Men's Lacrosse team to a 15-5 victory over Morrisville Wednesday in a non-conference game that was delayed 30 minutes due to a lightning strike just before the opening face-off of the contest on Bob Boozer Field at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium in Brockport.
The eight points pushed Elliott's season total to 40 points (28 goals, 12 assists) just 10 points shy of the school record he set last year for points in a season.
Brockport (4-6) scored the first 15 goals of the game before Morrisville (4-6) scored five times in the final quarter.
After Tim Cook (Fairport, NY/Fairport) scored the first goal of the game at the 11:54 mark, Elliott made the first of his two behind-the-back passes, setting up Riley Austin (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) a minute later for a 2-0 Brockport lead.
Just 30 seconds late, Austin set up Cook for his second goal of the game before Elliott rattled off three goals in a span of four minutes and Brockport led 6-0 after one quarter of play.
Austin opened the second quarter with his second goal of the game. Steve Brissette (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) and John Countryman (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) each scored later in the second quarter and the Golden Eagles took a 9-0 lead into the shortened halftime intermission.
Elliott added two goals in the first six minutes of the third quarter to give Brockport an 11-0 lead before Countryman added his second goal of the afternoon. Justin Cook (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) scored twice in less than two minutes to stretch the lead to 14-0 and Elliott closed out the Brockport scoring with his sixth goal of the day with 44 seconds left in the third quarter.
Morrisville scored five times in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 15-5 before the game ended.
Cory Banwaree (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) played the first three quarters and made seven saves without allowing a goal. Shane Hitchins (Albany, NY/Albany Academy) added four saves playing the fourth quarter for Brockport.
