Box Score

Sophomore Katie Sullivan (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) scored five times, freshman Hailey Boronczyk (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) added four goals and an assist as the younger players led The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team to a 22-16 victory over New Paltz Saturday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game at New Paltz.

New Paltz (4-6 Overall, 0-4 SUNYAC) opened the scoring after an early yellow card against Brockport (9-3, 4-1) gave the Hawks a man-up situation. Brockport responded with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead as Sarah Brown (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee), Ciara McKeon (Westhampton, NY/Westhampton Beach) and Emily Zartman (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) scored in a span of less than three minutes.

New Paltz came back with two quick goals tying the score at 3-3 with just 10 minutes elapsed in the first half.

The teams traded goals until Sullivan scored her first at the 9:10 mark of the first half to give Brockport a 6-5 lead which the Golden Eagles would hold for the remainder of the game.

Zartman added her second goal of the game 20 seconds later for the 7-5 lead and after the Hawks trimmed the lead to 7-6, Brockport rattled off five more goals to end the half and took a 12-6 lead into the intermission. Boronczyk, Brown, Sullivan, Allyson Wolf (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) each scored once in the run and Bornonczyk added her third of the game with 1:03 remaining in the half to cap the scoring for the first 30 minutes of action.

In the second half, Makensie Schuber (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) scored one minute into the half to extend the Brockport lead to 13-6.

After New Paltz scored to cut the advantage to 13-7, Brockport scored five of the next seven goals in the game to take an 18-9 lead with 12:41 left in the second half. Boronczyk and Schuber started the streak before Erin Featherstone (Tully, NY/Tully) and Lauren Hartman (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) scored and Sullivan added her third of the day.

The Hawks chipped away at the Brockport lead with six of the next eight goals but the Golden Eagles capped off the win with Sullivan's fifth goal and another by McKeon in the closing minutes.

Brown led Brockport with six points on two goals and four assists, Sullivan and Boronczyk each had five points as Sullivan had five goals and Boronczyk added four goals and an assist. Zartman had three goals and one assist while Schuber added two goals and two assists for the balanced Brockport attack.
