The College at Brockport softball team pounded out 21 hits on the road Sunday afternoon as the Golden Eagles swept Buffalo State 4-1 and 6-4 in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action. Sarah Rosenbarker (Endicott, NY/Maine-Endwell) collected six hits on the day, including a home run in game two.

Rosenbarker picked up three singles in game one but it was Jenna Yates' (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) two-run home run in the fourth inning that carried Brockport to victory. With the game tied at one, the senior drove a pitch to deep center field, scoring Erika Lazzaro (Oswego, NY/Oswego) on the blast. Jaime Berger (Norwich, NY/Norwich) picked up her seventh win of the year as the freshman allowed just two hits and one unearned run on the day.

Rosenbarker powered the Golden Eagles in game two, going 3-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. The junior delivered a third inning home run to put Brockport up 5-2. After the Bengals rallied to cut Brockport's lead to just one, Julie Arnold (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia) delivered an insurance run on a double to right centerfield, scoring Melissa Martin (Deposit, NY/Deposit). Korey Kibling (LaFayette, NY/Bishop Ludden) pitched all seven innings for her seventh win of the season.

With the sweep, Brockport improves to 10-2 in SUNYAC play this year. The Golden Eagles sit in first place in terms of winning percentage while Cortland, who swept New Paltz today, has an 11-3 record. The two teams will meet on April 26 for a doubleheader at the Clark V. Whited Complex.

Brianna Ferchen (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) opened up the scoring for Brockport in game one as the sophomore drove in fellow classmate Lazzaro on a double to left field.  After the Bengals tied the game up at one, Yates delivered a two out shot, her second of the year, to regain the lead for Brockport. Martin scored Brockport's fourth run of the game in the seventh inning after Brianna Harris (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) reached on a bases loaded fielder's choice.

The offense continued to roll in game two as the Golden Eagles scored three runs on four hits in the opening inning. With the bases loaded, Susanna Johnson (Edmeston, NY/Edmeston) singled to left field to score Yates for the first run. Harris then delivered a single to center field to score Rosenbarker and Dumas, giving the Golden Eagles the early 3-1 lead.

Yates picked up a sacrifice fly in the second inning, scoring Lazzaro from third. After two Buffalo State runs, Rosenbarker recorded her third home run of the year to give Brockport the 5-2 lead. Rosenbarker upped her batting average to .348 with her performance on Sunday, the second best mark on the team.
