Brockport To Host First Round of SUNYACs

The College at Brockport women's lacrosse team will host its first round matchup in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament against the Oneonta Red Dragons on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 pm at Brockport Field. The Golden Eagles clinched the No. 4 seed after posting a 5-3 conference record.

Brockport will host the Red Dragons for the second time this year after the Golden Eagles took a 16-11 decision on March 30. Brockport finished the season on a high note, defeating then No. 14 ranked and previously undefeated Fredonia State 13-8 on April 30 at home.

The Golden Eagles are making their fourth straight trip to the SUNYAC Tournament. Brockport fell in the opening round of the 2012 playoffs, losing to top seed Cortland 11-9.

Cortland received the top overall seed and will host the 2013 semifinals and championship game. The Red Dragons will take on the winner of Brockport/Oneonta in the semifinal round at 12:30 pm on Friday, May 3. Fredonia, the No. 2 seed, will take on Geneseo, the No. 3 seed in the second semifinal contest.

Ticket prices for each round of the SUNYAC Tournament will be six dollars for adults and three dollars for children. Kids five and under and SUNY students with proper school identification will be admitted free of charge.

Sarah Brown (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) helped carry the Golden Eagles throughout the season as the senior put herself atop the record books. Brown became the all-time leader in career assists with 140 and se the single season mark with 50 helpers and tied the single game record with eight. Brown ranks second all-time in career points with 252.

Brown's 70 points this year lead the team while Emily Zartman's (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) leads the team with 39 goals, eighth best in the league.
