Junior Nicole DeRose (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and sophomore Amy Kurmis (East Rochester, NY/East Rochester) each score singles victories for The College at Brockport Tennis team but Roberts Wesleyan swept the doubles matches to take an early lead and cruised to a 7-2 victory Tuesday afternoon at Roberts Wesleyan.
DeRose won a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 6 singles while Kurmis battled to a straight sets 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles for the two Brockport (4-4) wins.
DeRose teamed with freshman Sam Malak (Clinton, NY/Clinton) for a close 8-4 loss at No. 3 doubles while Kurmis was paired with Natasha Hale (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) at No. 1 doubls and the duo dropped an 8-3 decision.
