The No. 1 doubles team of
Lauren Bohman (Sayville, NY/Sayville) and
Rachel Lamont (Bloomfield, NY/Honeoye) rebounded from an early 3-0 deficit to post a 9-7 victory for The College at Brockport Tennis team leading to a 7-2 team victory over Alfred Wednesday afternoon in the 2013 home opener for the Golden Eagles.
Brockport (2-0) took two of the three doubles and then posted five wins in the singles matches for the 7-2 victory.
Down 3-0 in the first three games, Lamont and Bohman split the next four games and trailed 5-2 before winning two straight to trim the lead to 5-4. The teams split the next two games before Brockport took the lead winning the 11th and 12th games of the match to forge ahead 7-6. Alfred tied the score at 7-7 before the Golden Eagles won the final two games for the 9-7 victory.
Lamont led a solid effort in singles winning at No. 5 singles by a 6-0, 6-2 score. Brockport dominated the 3-4-5 and 6 singles matches to put the overall team victory away. Samantha Malak (Clinton, NY/Clinton) won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3,
Amy Kurmis (East Rochester, NY/East Rochester) was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at No. 4 and
Elizabeth O'Rourke (Camden, NY/Camden) scored a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Malak and
Nicole DeRose (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) scored an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles and
Natasha Hale (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was a 6-3, 7-6 winner at No. 2 singles to round out the scoring for Brockport.
