The College at Brockport women's tennis team downed the Fredonia Blue Devils 8-1 in a conference matchup at home on Saturday afternoon. Due to the rainy conditions, the contest was moved inside.
The Golden Eagles got out to a quick start. Opening with an 8-3 victory was Rachel Lamont (Bloomfield, NY/Honeoye) and Lauren Bohman (Sayville, NY/Sayville). Amy Kurmis (East Rochester, NY/East Rochester) and Natasha Hale (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) fought in a hard 9-8 battle, but fell after four rounds.
Taking back the lead in the final doubles matchup was Nicole DeRose (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and Sam Malak (Clinton, NY/Clinton) with a commanding 8-1 win.
