Senior Steve Brissette (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) recorded a hat trick and Senior Riley Austin (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) scored four points, but The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team fell at home to Keuka 11-10 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.
Brockport (2-3) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter after goals from Alex Austin (Rochester, NY/Trinity-Pawling) and R.Austin came just 40 seconds apart.
Keuka (3-0) cut the Golden Eagles lead to one with their first goal of the game at 8:49.
Brissette scored his first goal of the game at 6:29 and pushed Brockport's lead back out to two goals.
Brendan Fitzgerald (Baiting Hollow, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) put Brockport ahead 4-1 with a goal off of a pass from John Countryman (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) with 4:54 left to play in the first quarter.
With 1:31 left on the clock, Keuka scored a quick goal to keep things close, 4-2, heading into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Storm responded quickly, tallying a goal just 18 seconds into play and cutting the Golden Eagles lead to one.
Almost halfway through the second, Casey Cleary (Cortland, NY/Homer) finished on a pass from Clifton Jackson (Snyder, NY/Amherst), giving Brockport a 5-3 lead that they would carry into the third quarter.
Three goals from the Golden Eagles at 11:46, 10:00 and 8:57 gave Brockport its largest lead of the game, 8-3.
Keuka responded to the five goal run from Brockport with a three goal run of their own to end the third quarter. Heading into the fourth, the Storm trailed by two.
In the fourth quarter, Keuka continued their run with three goals, taking their first lead of the game at 7:33 and going up 9-8.
R. Austin tied things up at the seven minute mark. In the final minutes of regulation, Brockport gained back their lead off of a Brissette goal. However, with only 39 seconds on the clock, Keuka managed to score and send the game into overtime.
The Storm scored in the final 25 seconds of overtime to capture the win.
R. Austin led the team with four points off of two goals and two assists. Brissette scored three goals, while A. Austin tallied two goals and Countryman, Cleary and Fitzgerald each recorded one. Keenan Sullivan (Grand Rapids, MI/Forest Hills Eastern) led the Golden Eagles on defense with 10 ground balls and finished the game 13-22 for faceoffs.
Conor Nowak (Lakeview, NY/Eden) was credited with the loss in the net. Nowak played all 64:35, making 12 saves and allowing 11 goals.
Brockport returns to action on Wednesday at Elmira for a 3:30 pm game.
