Men's Lacrosse Beats Elmira 13-8

Senior Alex Austin (Rochester, NY/Trinity-Pawling) scored a team-high four goals and added two assists to lead The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team to a 13-8 win on the road at Elmira on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup.

Brockport (3-3) started off the game on a 4-0 run, shutting out Elmira (0-4) in the first quarter.

Austin scored the Golden Eagles first goal of the game, unassisted at 10:58. Casey Cleary (Cortland, NY/Homer) followed up with another unassisted goal less than a minute later. At 7:47, Bryon Palmer (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) finished on a pass from A. Austin to keep Brockport's run going. A. Austin capped off scoring in the quarter with his second goal of the game coming in the final minute.

Elmira ended their scoring drought in the second quarter with a goal at 11:37. However, Brockport answered back with a three goal run. Austin tallied another goal, along with Cleary and Steve Brissette (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus).

In the third quarter, Austin scored a man-up goal to put Brockport up 8-3 with 11:45 left. John Countryman (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) also added a goal at the end of the quarter to keep the Golden Eagles lead at five.

Elmira attempted to make a comeback in the final quarter, but the Golden Eagles matched their four goals to stay ahead. Riley Austin (Rochester, NY/Eastridge), Justin Cook (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott), Brisssette and Austin all tallied fourth quarter goals.

Conor Nowak (Lakeview, NY/Eden) earned the win in the goal, playing all 60:00 and making seven saves.

A. Austin led scoring with six points off of four goals and two assists, while R. Austin tallied five points on two goals and three assists.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday for a home matchup against Adrian at 11 am.
