The College at Brockport softball team combined for 29 hits to earn a 12-1 five inning victory over Alfred State and a 7-0 victory over Smith College to improve the Golden Eagles overall record to 7-3 on Wednesday afternoon in Lee County, FL. The Golden Eagles had multiple players finish strong offensively with Gabriella Baltzley (Lawton, PA/Elk Lake) leading the way going 3-for-3 from the plate with two runs and three RBI's.

Against Alfred State, Brockport wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. In the top of the first, Baltzley started things off with a single through the left side. Cheyenne Bumpus (Munnsville, NY/Stockbridge Valley) followed with a double to left field. Two batters later, Emily Kolenda (Oswego, NY/Oswego) stepped up and hit a sacrifice fly out to centerfield, giving Baltzley time to tag up and score.

Jaime Berger (Norwich, NY/Norwich) started off the game strong in the circle, striking out three of the four batters.

In the second inning, the Golden Eagles took advantage of two errors from Alfred State to increase their lead. Baltzley hit a single to centerfield, scoring Jordan Bush (Redwood, NY/Alexandria). On the next pitch, Baltzley stole second to put two runners into scoring position. Bumpus stepped up with another single to center field and advanced to second after an error from the center fielder. Her single brought Baltzley and Paige Monachino (East Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) home. After Kelly Proper (Silver Springs, NY/Letchworth) drew a walk, Kolenda drilled a hit towards second base to bring home Bumpus.

Brockport made the bottom of the second quick, forcing Alfred State to go three up, three down.

The Golden Eagles took an 11 run lead with four runs in the top of the third, using big hits and taking advantage of more Alfred State errors. Monachino advanced to second after the center fielder made a throwing error on her single and helped Jennifer Knox (Rensselear, NY/Columbia) to score. Baltzley stepped up big on the next play with a double to left field, scoring Monachino and Ciara Condello (Rochester, NY/East Rochester). A few batters later, a single from Proper scored Jaqueline Rio (Ronkonkoma, NY/Sachem North). Kolenda followed with a double to get Proper home.

The 12th and final run for the Golden Eagles came in the fourth inning. Amanda Yuhas (Hamburg, NY/Eden) grounded out to second base, but Monachino sprinted home for a run.

On only their second hit of the game, Alfred State scored their only run of the game with a blast out to centerfield.

In the bottom of the fifth, Brockport held Alfred State hitless to keep an 11 run lead, ending the game early.
