Senior Emily Zartman (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) scored seven goals to lead The College at Brockport women's lacrosse team to an 18-17 OT win over Susquehanna Sunday afternoon in a non-conference matchup in Owings Mills, MD.
Susquehanna (1-1) took a quick lead, scoring a goal in the first 44 seconds of the game.
Freshman Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) answered back with a goal to tie things up at 26:28 and got Brockport (2-1) started on a 4-0 run. Wall tallied two goals during the run, while Zartman notched her first goal and Alyssa Scordo (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson) added one.
The Crusaders quickly responded and tied the game back up with 21:19 left to play.
Liz Algie (Adams, NY/South Jefferson) scored to put the Golden Eagles back on top by a goal at 19:08.
With 10:29 remaining in the first half, Brockport trailed by two goals, but Zartman and Ciara McKeon (Westhampton, NY/Westhampton Beach) would score goals within 16 seconds of each other to bring the game to its fourth tie.
Heading into the final two minutes of the half, Susquehanna managed to slip a goal in and take a one goal advantage, 11-10, heading into halftime.
In the second half, McKeon wasted little time and tied the game up yet again for the Golden Eagles at 28:04.
The Crusaders trailed 16-14 with five minutes to play in regulation, but managed to get two goals with time running out to send the game into overtime.
Overtime remained close; Zartman gave Brockport the lead just 42 seconds into play, but Susquehanna answered immediately with a goal of their own to keeps things even.
With time running out, the Golden Eagles were able to take advantage of the Crusaders being a man down. Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) ripped a shot past the Susquehanna goalkeeper to give Brockport a one goal lead with only 41 seconds to play.
Zartman led the way on offense with seven goals. Wall tallied three goals, while Scordo, McKeon and Tassone all added two. Makensie Schuber (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and Algie both scored a goal. Colleen Hathway (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson) recorded a team-high five groundballs and McKeon registered a team-high seven draw controls.
In goal, Remle Harr (Farmington, NY/Fairport) played all 66:00 and recorded 12 saves for her second win of the season.
