Sophomore John Countryman (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) scored three goals and Steve Brissette (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) added two goals including one 34 seconds into the fourth quarter to cut the Clarkson lead to 6-5 but the Knights rattled off five consecutive goals and escaped with a 12-7 win Saturday at Bob Boozer Field at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium in Brockport.

Brockport (1-2) fell behind early as Clarkson (1-1) scored the first four goals of the game. Brissette scored the first of his two goals taking a run down the right side of the offensive set and firing a shot past the Clarkson goalie with 11:19 to play in the first half.

Countryman made it a 4-2 game with 2:48 left in the second quarter taking a pass from behind the net from Jake Giudice (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) as the teams entered the intermission with Clarkson holding a 4-2 lead.

After Clarkson took a 5-2 lead early in the second half, Brockport responded with a pair of man up goals – both by Countryman to trim the lead to 5-4. The Knights added a late third quarter goal to take a two-goal advantage into the final period.

Brissette scored early in the fourth quarter to draw Brockport back to within a goal but Clarkson's five goal run started with a pair of goals in a span of five seconds and ended with the Knights up 11-5.
