Brockport Beats Oswego 12-10

Junior Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) scored five goals and added an assist to help lead The College at Brockport women's lacrosse team to an important State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) win on the road against Oswego on Saturday afternoon.

Oswego (9-5, 2-5 SUNYAC) was the first to strike, scoring a goal just two minutes into the game. Tassone quickly answered back for Brockport (9-4, 3-3 SUNYAC) to tie the game with a free position goal at 27:12.

At the 15 minute mark, Tassone tallied another goal, putting Brockport up 4-3 and giving the Golden Eagles a lead it would hold onto for the remainder of the game.

The game stayed close for the majority of first half. The Golden Eagles did finish out the first half on a 3-0 run to help them gain a 10-6 advantage heading into halftime.

In the second half, things remained close. Oswego opened up with a 3-0 run in the first 10 minutes of the half to bring the Lakers to within one goal of the Golden Eagles.

Tassone fired a shot off a pass from Hailey Boronczyk (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) to put the Golden Eagles up by two goals midway through the second half. A minute later, Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) netted a goal to push the Brockport lead out to three goals.

The Lakers scored the last goal of the game at the 10 minute mark. In the final minutes of the game, both defense's held strong, not allowing either team to score.

Brockport outshot the Lakers 33-17 and also held a 24-15 advantage in ground balls.

Tassone led the Golden Eagle offense with six points. Wall added four goals for four points and Boronczyk finished with three points off of an assist and two goals. Makensie Schuber (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) rounded out the Brockport scoring with one goal.

Remle Harr (Farmington, NY/Fairport) recorded the loss in goal. Harr played all 60:00 minutes and made three saves.

Brockport returns to action on Tuesday at 4:00 pm for a SUNYAC matchup at Fredonia.
