Box Score Sophomore Hailey Boronczyk (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) and freshman Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) scored two goals each but it was not enough as The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team dropped an 8-5 decision to Geneseo Friday afternoon in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game and the regular season final for the Golden Eagles in Brockport.
Brockport (10-6 Overall, 4-4 SUNYAC) opened the scoring with a Wall goal 10 minutes into the game and after Geneseo (14-1, 6-1) scored twice in a span of 26 seconds to take a lead, Boronczyk notched her first goal of the game to knot the score at 2-2 midway through the first half.
The Knights added a third goal at the 8:38 mark in the half to take a 3-2 lead into the halftime intermission.
The teams traded goals to start the second half as Boronczyk scored her second of the game 15 minutes into the period.
Geneseo scored three of the next four goals to take an 8-4 lead. Wall scored the Brockport goal sandwiched between the four Knight goals. Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) assisted on the goal and the same combination traded places as Brockport finished the scoring with 1:46 left to play for the final 8-5 score with Wall picking up the assist.
Nearly every statistical category was equal between the two teams with the exception of draw controls as Geneseo picked up 10 of the 15 draws.
Remle Harr (Farmington, NY/Fairport) made 11 saves in the Brockport goal.
