Senior Rachel Lamont (Bloomfield, NY/Honeoye) and partner junior Meghan Storie (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) trailed 7-5 in the No. 1 doubles match before rebounding to force a tie-breaker winning a 9-8 score leading The College at Brockport Tennis team to a convincing 9-0 victory over cross-town rival St. John Fisher Friday in the season opener in Brockport.
Lamont added a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and Storie posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles for the Golden Eagles.
Both Sam Malak (Clinton, NY/Clinton) and Elizabeth O'Rourke (Camden, NY/Camden) posted 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles play. Malak teamed with Natasha Hale (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) for an 8-4 doubles win at No. 2 while O'Rourke and doubles partner Nicole DeRose (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) won an 8-2 No. 3 doubles victory.
Freshman Ciara Bannister (St. Albans, VT/BFA-St. Albans) was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 6 singles for Brockport.
