Junior Jordan Dyer (Chenango Forks, NY/Chenango Forks) lost a tough 3-2 overtime tie breaker match in the title bout of the 149-pound weight class to take second place leading The College at Brockport Wrestling team to an overall second place finish as a team at the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Championship Tournament Saturday afternoon in Oneonta.

Ithaca College won the team title with 154 points followed by Brockport with 135.5 points. Oneonta was third (102.5 points) followed by Cortland (95), Lycoming (61), RIT (52), Oswego (34.5) and Alfred State (29.5).

Dyer was one of seven Golden Eagles to finish second in their weight class as Asher Kramer (Sloatsburg, NY/Suffern) at 125 pounds, Sean O'Hagan (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY/Sachem North) at 141 pounds, James Devine III (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) at 157 pounds, Tyler Lusht (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) at 174 pounds, Jeff Palmeri (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) at 184 pounds and Cole Tristram (Newton Falls, NY/Clifton-Fine) at 285 pounds all earned second place finishes.

Both Kramer, ranked No. 5 in the country at 125 pounds, and Lusht were prevented from battling for the championship title due to injuries forcing them to use a medical forfeit.

O'Hagan dropped a close 5-3 decision at 141 in the title bout. A two-point reversal by O'Hagan early in the third period made the score 3-3 but his opponent earned a single point on an escape a few seconds later and held off O'Hagan in the closing seconds of the match and earned the extra riding time point for the 5-3 win.

Devine dropped a 5-0 decision in the championship bout to the top-seeded wrestler in the bracket while Palmeri surrendered a 4-2 decision at 184 pounds in the title match. Palmeri was taken down in the first period and then cut the lead to 2-1 with an escape in the first few seconds of the second period. After another take down to fall behind 4-1, Palmeri escaped again but was unable to score another point against the defensive tactics of his opponent in the final period.

Tristram was ahead 5-2 in the first period of the 285-pound title bout before a last second escape made it a 5-3 score heading into the second period. Tristram opted for the down position to start the period but was unable to get to his feet early in the period and later tried to spin out of the bottom position but got caught in a bad position and was pinned to end the match.
