Brockport (8-8, 5-4 SUNYAC) played suffocating defense holding the Cardinals to 33% shooting from the floor and dominated the second half offensively scoring 45 points to Plattsburgh's 27. The Golden Eagles scored 16 points following Plattsburgh turnovers.
The Golden Eagles forced 10 turnovers in the first half of play and thanks to some solid shooting from players off the bench were able to build a 26-25 halftime lead. Mike Gallagher (Schenectady, NY/ND-Bishop Gibbons) contributed five points in the first half, including the big three pointer with less than a minute remaining that broke a 23-23 tie. Brockport never relinquished the lead after Gallagher's triple from beyond the arc.
In the second half of play Pace took over the game draining a few jumpers and demonstrating his athleticism with an aerial slam with just over two minutes remaining in the game to give Brockport the 60-48 edge. Mitch Cote (Rochester, NY/Penfield) quick outlet pass found Terence Thomas (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot) who also displayed his athleticism throwing down an emphatic dunk over a Cardinal defender in the closing seconds of the game.
The Green and Gold were led in scoring by Patrick Modzelewski (Brooklyn, NY/Msgr. McClancy). He finished the game with 15 points, including three shots made from beyond the arc. Pace scored 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor, while also leading the Golden Eagles with eight rebounds and three blocks. Matthew Smith (East Northport, NY/Northport) continued his generous style of play, leading Brockport with seven assists. Clifton Lyerly (Inwood, NY/Lawrence) swiped the ball from the Cardinals three times.
