BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team scored three goals in the first half en route to a 4-1 win over Keuka College Friday night in a non-conference game at Bob Boozer Field.
Kelsey Devine and Margo Tremaine were a force to reckon with on Brockport's (2-14 overall, 1-5 SUNYAC) offense, combining for ten points on the day. After the Golden Eagles found themselves in a 1-0 deficit, Tremaine made a sharp pass to Devine who tucked the ball into the corner to tie the game at one a mere nine minutes into play.
During the 23rd minute of play, Brockport earned a penalty corner which was taken by Ryenn Sanger. Devine received a pass from Sanger, shot the ball towards the net and Tremaine tipped it in to take a 2-1 lead. Six minutes later Brockport tallied another goal as Christina Conkling shot the ball towards the net and Tremaine tipped it in again.
At the half, Brockport held a 3-1 lead over Keuka (2-10) after outshooting the Wolfpack 15-1.
Tremaine scored her final goal of the game just minutes into the second half. The junior dodged around defenders and beat the goalkeeper in the lower left hand corner to cap off the 4-1 victory.
The Golden Eagles outshot Keuka 27-4 and had 11 penalty corners to Keuka's two. Devine and Katherine Weyant led the offense with six shots each while Tremaine tallied five. Tremaine finished with three goals and one assist while Devine had one goal and one assist. Briana D'Amico recorded two shots. Ryenn Sanger and Maria Morgenthaler had one shot each.
Sarah Beam played a majority of the game in goal for Brockport, recorded one save and one goal allowed in 68 minutes of play. Beam earned her second victory on the season. Adriana DeDie played the final two minutes in goal but did not see much action as the Brockport defense didn't allow Keuka to get a shot off in the final 20 minutes of play.
The Golden Eagles have two games remaining in the regular season. They will travel to St. John Fisher College on Thursday at 7 p.m. then head to Ithaca College for the regular season finale Saturday at 12 p.m.
