PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's soccer team faced Plattsburgh Saturday afternoon, playing to a 1-1 tie to finish out the regular season and will now travel back to Plattsburgh for round two as the two teams will face each other in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) quarterfinals on Saturday Oct. 31.
 
Brockport (7-5-4 Overall, 3-3-3 SUNYAC) relied heavily on goalkeeper Catherine Eliasson to preserve the tie as the team was outshot 29-4.
 
After a scoreless first half of action, the Golden Eagles got on the board first in the 49th minute when Courtney Szczesniak sent a through ball into the middle where Chelsea Stahl finished the job to pick up her fifth goal of the season.
 
The Brockport defense held strong until a corner kick opportunity arose for the Cardinals and in the 83rd minute of play, Madeline Saccocio found the back of the net to knot the contest at 1-1. That tied score would stand through regulation and two overtime periods to make the final score 1-1.
 
Brockport notched four shots on the day, with three on goal, while the Brockport goal keeper, Eliasson picked up 13 saves in 110 minutes of play.
 
The Golden Eagles will hit the road again next week in the first round of the SUNYAC Conference Tournament. The No. 5 seeded Brockport squad will face Plattsburgh the No. 4 seed on Oct. 31.
