The 2015-2016 season got off to a strong start for Brockport when the Golden Eagles opened the contest with an 8-0 run, due in large part to three layups from
Matthew Smith and a lay-in from
Olusola Adeniran.
The Golden Eagles continued to grind, and by the mid-way point, saw their lead grow to double-digits after a
Hamed Shamseldin bucket off a feed from Smith to post a 20-10 advantage.
The steady play continued for the Golden Eagles, anchored by
Clifton Lyerly, who knocked down a jumper with 2:55 to play in the first half for his eighth point of the contest, and to give Brockport a 36-21 lead.
The senior continued his hot streak into the waning minutes of the half, with a trey to give the Green and Gold a 42-26 advantage. A pair of Saints scores cut the Brockport lead, but the Golden Eagles took a 42-31 score into the break.

Greg Dunne's squad was led by Shamseldin, who recorded 16 points. Lyerly added 12 points to the team's totals. Brockport shot 53.3 percent from the field in the first half, and forced 11 turnovers.
Brockport went straight to work out of the half, with Lyerly opening play with a deep ball to push the Golden Eagles ahead 45-31. Working to hold off a charging Saints team, Brockport was able to stay strong despite St. Lawrence working the deficit to single digits at the 17:53 mark at 45-36.
Lyerly continued to produce, netting the next two Brockport buckets, working out to a 49-36 Brockport lead with 16:58 to play.
The Golden Eagles were tested at the charity stripe, and proved themselves with a 10-0 run, all from the free throw line to post a 65-39 lead by the 8:11 mark. Coach Dunne's squad remained in control of the contest, building on their lead down the stretch. A Shamseldin three at the 3:13 mark gave the Golden Eagles a 74-48 edge. The Brockport squad held on to post a strong 81-57 win.
