Box Score Senior Mike Gallagher (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) scored 15 points off the bench to lead The College at Brockport Men's Basketball team but the Golden Eagles could not overcome a 15-point deficit in the first half in a 76-62 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) loss to Geneseo Friday night in Vlogianitis Gymnasium in Brockport.
Brockport (9-10 Overall, 6-6 SUNYAC) had the early 2-0 lead but an early 9-2 run by Geneseo (11-8, 7-5) gave the Knights the lead that they would not relinquish.
Brockport trimmed the lead to three points with 14:43 left in the first half but Geneseo answered with another 9-2 run extending the lead to double-digits at 24-13 just over two minutes later.
Geneseo led by 15 points with 7:58 remaining before Brockport ended the half with an 11-4 run to enter the break down eight.
In the second half, the Knights opened with a 7-2 run to regain the double-digit lead. Brockport rallied to cut the lead all the way to five points at 58-53 with 7:03 left to play and still trailed by five points at 62-57 with 5:24 on the clock.
Geneseo scored the next nine points to build a 14-point advantage with 1:21 left.
Gallagher led the Golden Eagles with his 15 points while Aaron White (North Tonawanda, NY/Canisius) added 10 points and Patrick Modzelewski (Brooklyn, NY/Msgr. McClancy) scored 11 for Brockport.
