Box Score

Sophomore Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) and senior Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) led The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team to its first victory of the season, scoring 11 goals combined in the 17-9 victory over St. Lawrence Thursday evening as the two teams squared off at SUNY Canton.

Brockport (1-1) trailed 7-5 after the first half of play but scored the first nine goals while also outscoring the Saints 12-2 in the second half. Makensie Schuber (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) set the tone for the second half when she won the draw control and sprinted up the middle of the field on a fast break to cut the Saint lead to 7-6 just 12 seconds into the half.

Freshman Peyton Pallar (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) scored a little less than three minutes later to tie the score. Wall and Tassone went on a scoring binge for the Golden Eagles scoring six of the next seven Golden Eagle goals, giving Brockport a 14-7 advantage.

What proved to be the game winning goal was scored by Brockport's junior Hailey Boronczyk (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) who scored the lone goal sandwiched between Wall and Tassone's scores.

Wall and Tassone scored Brockport's final seven goals of the game with a single assist being credited to Boronczyk.

Junior Ciara McKeon (Westhampton, NY/Westhampton Beach) was essential in the Brockport win, as she won 10 draws in the second half. Schuber had three ground balls and three caused turnovers to go along with her two goals and assist. Senior goalie Remle Harr (Farmington, NY/Fairport) made six saves for the win as Brockport outshot St. Lawrence 41-17 while winning 19 of 28 draw controls.

Brockport's next game is scheduled for March 17 in another nonconference road contest against Salisbury at 2:00 pm.
