Junior Brianna Harris (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) hit a double and a single and drove in a pair of runs leading The College at Brockport Softball team to a 6-2 victory over UMass-Dartmouth Monday in the second game of the day to salvage a split after dropping a 4-1 decision to Wisconsin-Platteville earlier in the day at the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Florida.

Brockport (4-2) broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth with a four-run rally with two outs in the inning. Brianna Ferchen (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) had a two-run double and scored as Harris followed with a run-scoring single as the Golden Eagles took the 6-2 lead.

UMass rallied to load the bases with one out in the top of the seventh before Jaime Berger (Norwich, NY/Norwich) struck out the next two batters to end the game and the Golden Eagles headed to Sonny's BBQ for a team lunch sponsored by Athletes in Action.

Brockport took the early lead Ferchen walked and stole second to start the bottom of the first inning. Harris followed with a double to score Ferchen with the first run of the game.

In the bottom of the fourth Alyssa Balfe (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) singled with one out and took second on a passed ball before Erika Lazzaro (Oswego, NY/Oswego) single to score Balfe for the 2-0 Brockport lead.

In the top of the sixth, Dartmouth advanced runners to second and third with two outs and scored runs on a passed ball and a single before Berger fanned the final batter of the inning.

Berger picked up her third win of the season and struck out four of the 11 batters she faced. Emily Kolenda (Oswego, NY/Oswego) started and allowed a run on one hit and struck out five.

In game one, Balfe was 2-for-2 and also walked once but Brockport managed just six total hits against Wisconsin-Platteville.

Platteville opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning with an error and back-to-back doubles.

Brockport threatened in the top of the fourth loading the bases. Harris started the rally reaching base on an error to start the inning. Shelby Perry (Brockport, NY/Brockport) singled to third base but Harris out on the play. With two outs, Kelly Proper (Silver Springs, NY/Letchworth) singled to put runners on first and third and Balfe walked to load the bases before a fly out to right field ended the inning.

In the bottom of the inning, Platteville added to its lead with a two-out run-scoring single and then took a 4-0 lead in the sixth starting the inning with a double and a run-scoring single.

In the seventh inning, Balfe singled to start the inning and was replaced by Shannon Allen (Brockport, NY/Brockport) as a pinch runner.  Allen went to second on a groundout and scored on a Nicole Atkins (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) single for the only run of the game for the Golden Eagles.
