Box Score

Senior Clifton Jackson (Snyder, NY/Amherst) scored the game winning goal in the first period as The College at Brockport Men's Lacrosse team's offense overwhelmed Elmira in a 16-1 nonconference victory at home Wednesday evening in the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium.

Brockport (2-4) outshot Elmira 54-15 during the contest and kept the Soaring Eagles offense grounded for the first half of play. Justin Cook (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott), Marcus Palvino (Rochester, NY/Spencerport), Jackson and Joe Mikiciuk (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) each scored multiple goals for the Golden Eagles as Cook led the way with four.

Junior John Countryman (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) got the scoring underway in the first quarter after more than four minutes of play. Jackson scored the next two goals for the Golden Eagles including what proved to be the game-winner. Cook scored the final goal of the first half with 3:59 to play in the first quarter.

After a scoreless second quarter, Colin Blind (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) got things rolling for Brockport when he scooped the ball up next to the Green and Gold's bench and raced down the field. Blind attracted several Soaring Eagle defenders attention before he passed the ball off to a wide open Cook who easily converted the pass into a 5-0 Golden Eagle lead.

Brockport's Brendan Fitzgerald (Baiting Hollow, NY/Kellenberg Memorial), Nick Ciampi (Jordan, NY/C.W. Baker) and Palvino each scored pushing the lead to 8-0 before Elmira snuck a ball behind Brockport's Conor Nowak (Amherst, NY/Eden), who finished the game with seven saves compared to only one goal allowed.

A Palvino goal sandwiched between two Cook scores closed out the third quarter scoring. Casey Cleary (Cortland, NY/Homer), Palvino, Mikiciuk and Michael Gallagher (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) each scored unassisted goals in the fourth.

The Golden Eagles travel to Adrian this weekend for another nonconference game that is scheduled for 4 pm in Michigan.
