Senior Ciara Condello (Rochester, NY/East Rochester) led The College at Brockport Softball team offense with a two-run single and junior pitcher Korey Kibling (Lafayette, NY/Bishop Ludden) did not allow an earned run as the Golden Eagles defeated Alfred State 10-3 Thursday in the final game of the 12-game Florida Spring Training trip. Brockport fell to Stevens Institute, 7-1, in the first game of the day.

Freshman Shelby Perry (Brockport, NY/Brockport) had a pair of hits including a double while senior Brianna Ferchen (Oenonta, NY/Oneonta) was 1-for-3 in the opener against Stevens (7-0) as Brockport (6-6) was limited to just the three hits in the game.

Stevens scored twice in the second inning and once more in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead and neither team scored again until the final inning. In the seventh, the Ducks rallied for four more runs and Brockport scored its only run in the bottom half of the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Perry led off with a double and then with one out, Lindsay Wachna (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) struck out but advanced to first on a passed ball putting runners on the corners with one out. Alyssa Balfe (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) walked to load the bases before Delaney Buckley (Utica, NY/Utica Notre Dame) hit an infield grounder that was bobbled by the short stop allowing pinch runner Shannon Allen (Brockport, NY/Brockport) to score from third.

In the second game of the day, solid pitching by Kibling and hits from nearly every player on the Brockport lineup led to a 10-3 win over Alfred.

The Pioneers (0-10) took a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. An error in the inning led to both runs being scored as unearned.

In the bottom of the second inning, Brockport sent 11 batters to the plate and scored seven times to take the lead. Condello had the big hit in the rally with a bases loaded single up the middle scoring two runners and giving the Golden Eagles a 3-2 lead.

Brockport went on to score four more runs on two hits and an error for the 7-2 lead.

A single run by Alfred State in the third inning trimmed the lead to 7-3 but in the bottom of the fifth, Brockport added two more runs for the 9-3 lead. Tabitha McBride (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) singled to start the inning and Karleigh Eaton (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) doubled to put two runners in scoring position. A ground out by Amanda Yuhas (Hamburg, NY/Eaton) scored one runner and Eaton came home on a wild pitch.

Erika Lazzaro (Oswego, NY/Oswego) doubled to start the sixth inning and advanced to third on a passed ball before Emily Kolenda (Oswego, NY/Oswego) lifted a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Lazzaro for the final run of the game.
