Tassone Leads Women's Lacrosse to 12-9 Win

Nina Tassone scored 4 goals as Brockport dropped previously unbeaten Nazareth

Senior Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) scored four goals for The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team as the Golden Eagles won 12-9 and handed Nazareth its first loss of the season Friday evening on the campus of the Golden Flyers.

Brockport (2-2) built a strong lead by halftime before Nazareth fought its way back into the game in the second half but the Golden Eagles proved victorious. The Green and Gold held a four goal lead at halftime while only having three more shots than Nazareth.

Freshman Jessica Boddery (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) got the scoring underway for Brockport just under four minutes into the game as Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa)  picked up the assist.

Brockport's Tassone and Courtney Szczesniak (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) scored the next two goals for the Golden Eagles that were split between two Nazareth scores before Brockport scored the next four goals of the game. Tassone added another goal to her total prior to Ciara McKeon's (Westhampton, NY/Westhampton Beach) first two goals of her season. Boddery scored the next Golden Eagle goal which was followed by a man up goal by Nazareth, to make the score 7-3 going into halftime.

The Golden Flyers scored the first goal of the second half before Tassone netted one for Brockport about six minutes into the half. Hailey Boronczyk (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran), McKeon and Tassone scored the next three Brockport goals in less than three minutes following a Nazareth score to put the Golden Eagles ahead 11-5.  Boronczyk scored the final Brockport goal with about 10 minutes remaining in the game on an assist from Andrea Zlinsky (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy).

Goalie Remle Harr (Farmington, NY/Fairport) picked up her second win of the season while stopping six Golden Flyer shots.

Brockport's next game is against Montclair State University tomorrow in Fredonia at 12 pm.
