Junior Makensie Schuber (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) ignited a fire in The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team to persevere through the harsh conditions that included hail on the neutral site of Fredonia and emerge victorious Saturday afternoon against Montclair State University as the Golden Eagles won 10-9 in a come from behind victory.

Brockport (3-2) dug itself a big hole to recover from as it trailed 7-2 at halftime but Schuber was the even keel presence the Golden Eagles relied on to lead the team. Schuber was a perfect five of five on shots and goals as she scored on every single shot she took, including two free position shots converted for goals.

Schuber scored the first goal of the second half to begin the slow rally that encompassed the entire 30 minutes remaining in action. Jessica Boddery (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) scored her second goal of the game less than two minutes after Schuber's second score trimming the Red Hawks lead to 7-4.

Montclair responded with a goal of its own before Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) scored two consecutive goals for Brockport bringing the Golden Eagles within two. However the Red Hawks scored the next goal five minutes later, regaining the three goal lead.

Schuber responded with a brilliant final ten minutes of play as she scored three of the four consecutive goals Brockport had, including the game-winner with just under three minutes remaining. Andrea Zlinsky (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) scored the tying goal for the Golden Eagles prior to Schuber's game-winner.

Schuber's excellence was not limited to the offensive end as her effort was consistent all-around. She totaled five draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Tassone also added four ground balls for Brockport.

Goalie Remle Harr (Farmington, NY/Fairport) had a strong game in net, as she finished the game with eight saves while picking up her third victory on the season.

The Golden Eagles return home for a game against William Smith on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
