Box Score

Junior Marcus Palvino (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) and Clifton Jackson (Snyder, NY/Amherst) led The College at Brockport Men's Lacrosse attack Saturday afternoon as the Golden Eagles fell 10-6 in its first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game of the season against Plattsburgh at Bob Boozer Field on the campus of Brockport.

Brockport (4-5, 0-1 SUNYAC) dug itself a hole with 11 penalties during the contest while the Cardinals were only flagged three times. The Golden Eagles held the shot advantage with 38 compared to Plattsburgh's 31, but were unable to keep pace with the Cardinals after being held scoreless in the third quarter.

Jackson gave the Golden Eagles an early lead scoring less than two minutes into the game with an assist coming from Jake Giudice (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas). Plattsburgh responded with the next three goals before Brockport closed the first quarter out with two goals of its own.

Justin Cook (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) scored with 5:20 remaining in the quarter before Palvino tied the game up at 3-3. Palvino's goal was scored with 19 seconds remaining when Jackson scooped up the ball with several Cardinal defenders trying to steal the possession, before Jackson fired a crisp pass to Palvino who slung the ball past the goalie.

Plattsburgh again scored three goals in a row before Brockport answered back with two of its own. John Countryman (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and Casey Cleary (Cortland, NY/Homer) kept the game close with their two scores bringing Brockport within one after the first half of play with the score 6-5.

The Golden Eagles struggled to get much of an offense going in the second half as the Cardinals scored the lone goal of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Brockport was called for seven penalties compared to three for Plattsburgh. Palvino connected on a man up goal for the Golden Eagles with less than two minutes remaining on a feed from Brendan Fitzgerald (Baiting Hollow, NY/Kellenberg Memorial).

The Green and Gold face Alfred State at 4 pm on April 1 at home before returning to conference play with a home game against Oneonta April 4 at 2:30 pm.
