Senior Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) scored three goals for The College at Brockport as the team nearly staged a come from behind victory in the second half before the Golden Eagles fell in their first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game of the season to Fredonia losing 11-8 on the campus of Brockport.

After trailing 8-3 early in the second half, Brockport (4-3, 0-1 SUNYAC) rallied behind five of the next six goals scored to trail by a single point before two late Blue Devil goals sealed the game's decision. Brockport outshot Fredonia 29-23 but stellar play from the opposing goaltender held the Golden Eagles to less than 10 goals for the first time in three games.

Freshman Jessica Boddery (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) began the rally for the Golden Eagles with less than 20 minutes remaining in the second half as Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) assisted on the play. Tassone scored the next Golden Eagle goal with 16:54 remaining on the clock.

Fredonia (7-2, 1-1 SUNYAC) scored the next goal of the game before Brockport scored the next three. Andrea Zlinsky (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) received a pass from Keeley Rice (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam) before quickly sending it past the Blue Devil goalie. Tassone scored with a little more than five minutes remaining as she ran past the defense before firing a shot into the net.

Wall scored 15 seconds later as Zlinsky raced down the field after winning the draw control. Zlinsky scooped up the ball at midfield and raced down the right side of the field and sent the ball across to Wall on the left side before Wall trimmed the Blue Devil lead to 9-8. Fredonia scored the last two goals of the game.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead as Wall scored the first goal of the game. Meg LeGro (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) scored her first goal of the season following a Fredonia score to give Brockport its last lead of the game 2-1. Brockport trailed 6-3 at halftime.

Brockport will continue SUNYAC play this weekend as it faces Oneonta Saturday at 11:00 AM.
