Senior Justin Cook (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) scored one of the three goals for The College at Brockport Men's Lacrosse team Tuesday afternoon but the Golden Eagles dropped a 23-3 decision to RIT on Bob Boozer Field at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium for the home opener in Brockport.

RIT (3-0), ranked No. 2 in the latest Division III national poll, scored the first 16 goals of the game including 15 goals in the first half and 10 in the first quarter.

Brockport (0-2) got on the board in the third quarter as Cook scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season and an assist from Casey Cleary (Cortland, NY/Homer).

The Tigers scored a little more than a minute later but the Golden Eagles answered a few minutes later as junior Mark Robinson (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) scored his first goal of the year with an assist from junior Marcus Palvino (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) at the 7:57 mark of the quarter.

RIT scored the final two goals of the quarter to take a 19-2 lead into the final stanza.

After the Tigers scored the first four goals of the fourth quarter, Brockport capped the scoring as junior John Countryman (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) scored his second goal of the season in a man-up situation with an assist by Palvino with just over five minutes to play in the game.

Sophomore goalie Conor Nowak (Amherst, NY/Eden) made 16 saves for Brockport as RIT fired 54 shots on the day. The Tigers had four different goalies combine for five saves.

Brockport is scheduled to play at Clarkson Saturday but the game could be changed to a home game depending on the weather and field conditions in Potsdam. Updates on the status of the game can be found on the Brockport Athletics website at www.gobrockport.com.
