Box Score Junior Marcus Palvino (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) scored the first two goals, including the game-winner, for The College at Brockport as the Golden Eagles routed Alfred State in a nonconference game 15-1 Wednesday evening at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium on the campus of Brockport.
Â
Brockport (5-5, 0-1 SUNYAC) jumped out to an early lead on Palvino's first score of the game less than two minutes into the contest. The Golden Eagles scored the first 14 goals of the game as they dominated the contest with 42 shots compared to Alfred's 13. The Green and Gold defense was too much for the Pioneers to handle as Brockport held Alfred to only 13 successful clear attempts in 26 tries while also causing 29 turnovers.
Â
Five Golden Eagles scored multiple times while eight players totaled the 15 Brockport goals. Junior
John Countryman (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and sophomore
Max Hill (Victor, NY/Victor) led the team with three goals apiece followed by
Jake Giudice (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas),
Justin Cook (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) and Palvino scored two each. Freshman goalie
Trey Love (Oswego, NY/Oswego) picked up his first win of his Golden Eagles career.
Â
Brockport scored two goals just six seconds apart in the first quarter. Sophomore
Brendan Fitzgerald (Baiting Hollow, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) spun away from a defender and found Countryman in front of the goal for Brockport's third goal of the game. On the ensuing faceoff, freshman
Zach Cook (Vestal, NY/Vestal) won the faceoff and passed to his brother senior
Justin Cook (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) who sprinted into Alfred territory and scored.
Â
During the third quarter Hill scored back-to-back goals for the Golden Eagles. Freshman
Jeff Taylor (Lakeview, NY/Frontier) picked up a loose ball behind the net then made a quick pass to Hill who found the back of the net. Just over one minute later junior
Austin Recor (Homer, NY/Homer) passed the ball to Hill who ripped a shot and beat the goalie up top.
