Box Score

Senior attack Justin Cook (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) put forth a tremendous effort on his regular season finale at Bob Boozer Field during The College at Brockport Men's Lacrosse team's senior day 11-8 victory over State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponent Oswego Saturday afternoon in Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium.

Brockport (7-5, 2-1 SUNYAC) and Oswego had a very even match through much of the game including an even standstill in number of shots as both squads finished with 33 shots apiece. The Golden Eagles built a strong lead in the first quarter scoring four goals to Oswego's zero.

Cook scored four goals in total for the Golden Eagles in his home field finale. He scored the first two goals of the game while also adding the game-winner in the third quarter before closing out Brockport's scoring with less than four minutes to play in the fourth quarter.

In the first quarter of play Brockport jumped ahead with Cook's two goals and scores from Jake Giudice (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and Colin Blind (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas). Brendan Fitzgerald (Baiting Hollow, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) assisted on Cook's second goal when he passed the ball from the top of the box to his right before Cook quickly fired the ball past the Laker goalie.

Giudice on a no look shot, running across the field from the right to the left of the goalie before he fired a shot around the Laker defender that was draped all over him. Blind's goal came during the closing minute of the first quarter. Blind cleared the ball from Brockport's zone taking it all the way up the field on his own before ripping a shot by the Oswego defense and goalie from 20 yards out.

Oswego closed the gap in the second quarter with three goals. Giudice and Casey Cleary (Cortland, NY/Homer) scored for Brockport in the second to give the Golden Eagles a 6-3 halftime lead. Cleary ran through the Oswego defense from 30 yards out and skipped a hard shot into the net.

Marcus Palvino (Rochester, NY/Spencerport), Cleary and Cook all scored in the third quarter to stretch the Brockport lead to 9-4. Mark Robinson (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) took the ball in from the outside the box before finding Cook on his right, Cook snapped a shot off quickly for the game-winning ninth Golden Eagle goal of the game.

The Lakers clawed back into the game with two goals to start the fourth before Giudice put Brockport ahead 10-6 with a goal less than two minutes after Oswego's second score. The Lakers yet again responded quickly with a score following the faceoff but Brockport would not let Oswego come any closer as the two teams went scoreless for nearly four minutes before Giudice assisted on a Cook goal for the final Brockport score of the game.

Goalie Conor Nowak (Amherst, NY/Eden) picked up his sixth win of the season recording seven saves in the process. Nick Smith (Victor, NY/Canandaigua) played high energy defense recording seven groundballs and also causing a turnover.

Brockport hits the road for its final three regular season contests against SUNYAC opponents for the remainder of the season. Next Saturday the team travels to Potsdam for a 1 pm game against Potsdam.
